Bertram's annual Olde Tyme Christmas Festival is held every year on the Saturday following Thanksgiving Day. In 2009 the festival is November 29. The festival is another fun-loving expression of the community and draws an appreciative crowd. Although many festival goers arrive by car, each year the Austin Steam Train Association runs two trains to the festival from its headquarters in Cedar Park, bringing over 800 visitors to the festival. The festival is family-oriented, and many free activities are specifically provided for children, including pony rides

Take a step back in time! Many of our vendors and visitors dress in period costume. We invite you to join in the spirit of the festival and wear period costume (think Little House on the Prairie).

The festival hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and admittance is free. Bertram prides itself on its hospitality, and there will be many free activities for children and adults, including pony rides, face painting, music and entertainment. A variety of delicious foods are provided by Bertram non-profit organizations, and you'll find brisket sandwiches, sausage on a stick, tamales, and much more. The Friends of the Bertram Library operate a Sweete Shoppe, where you'll find all sorts of tempting candy, cookies, cakes and pies along with hot beverages.

Arts & Crafts Vendors: There will be arts and craft booths along Vaughan Street the entire day. If you are interested in exhibiting, download an application here: (Old Time Christmas Craft Application 09). If you have questions, call City Hall at 512.355.2197.

You'll find a variety of tasty food as well as demonstrations of old fashioned cooking. Volunteers from Ft. Croghan will demonstrate pioneer arts and crafts, and there will be authentic Indian dancers.

The "Welcoming Committee" greets visitors at the Bertram Depot.

Visitors enjoy a variety of antique cars.

Each year the Olde Tyme Christmas Festival holds a costume contest with cash prizes for the top three entries. Download your entry application here: (Old Time Christmas Costume Contest 09)
